Strictly necessary

These make the site work. They are set without consent because the site cannot function without them, which is the exemption UK PECR and the EU ePrivacy Directive provide for.

wtmc_country — which market you are reading, so the bare domain sends you to the right one. 180 days.

wtmc_unlock — records that you have unlocked, signed and verified by us so it cannot be forged. Session-length.

wtmc_notice — carries a single one-word message across a page reload, such as “that vote did not save”. Seconds.

sb-…-auth-token — your sign-in session, set by Supabase, our accounts provider. Without it you would be signed out on every page.

wtmc_admin_flash — only ever set for site editors, and only inside the admin area.

Advertising

We intend to show advertising, which sets cookies for ad delivery and measurement.

In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland, none of it loads until you have given consent through our consent banner. Not the script, not the cookie, not the ad container — if you have not consented, nothing is requested at all.

Outside those regions, ad cookies may be set in line with local law, and you can opt out through ad opt out route.

Analytics

Aggregate usage measurement, so we can tell which pages help and which do not. Treated as non-essential and subject to the same consent as advertising in the regions above.

Changing your mind

You can change or withdraw consent at any time through consent settings route. You can also clear cookies in your browser, which will sign you out and return you to the default market.
