Why that grade Retainer pricing is drawn from freelance marketplace listings and tool marketing rather than audited agency books. Course-seller index 3/10.
Figures are researched estimates, not guarantees. Check local rules before you trade.
Why anybody pays for this
Podcasters and founders record long-form content but rarely have time to cut it into the dozens of short pieces that actually drive social reach — the raw asset already exists, you're just extracting more value from it.
Monthly retainers of $500-3,000/client depending on volume; freelancers charging per-clip ($15-75) on Upwork/Fiverr for one-off work. 5-15 retainer clients realistically nets $5,000-10,000/month.
Good fit if
Someone with a good editorial eye for hooks and pacing, comfortable pitching busy podcasters and founders directly.
Skip it if
Anyone who can only run the tool and not add curation judgment — that's the part clients are actually paying for.
What actually goes wrong
The repurposing tools themselves (OpusClip, Quso) are increasingly self-serve and cheap, so your service has to visibly beat what a client could do alone in 20 minutes, or they'll churn to the tool directly.
Self-serve tools keep getting better — the durable value is strategy and curation, not running software a client could run themselves.

Decide
01
Pick a target client type
₹0 · 2 hrs
Focus on podcasters, coaches or B2B founders who already record long-form video or audio but don't have time to repurpose it themselves. The raw asset already exists in their files — you're extracting more value from it, not creating something new.
Done when You've named the one client type you're targeting and can list three podcasters, coaches or founders in it you could pitch this week.
02
Build a repeatable pipeline
₹4,174 · 10 hrs
AI clipping tool for the first pass, then a human quality pass on hooks and captions, then scheduling — document this as a checklist so it's repeatable per client.
Done when You have a written checklist — AI clip pass, human hook/caption edit, then scheduling — that someone else could follow and get a consistent result.
Watch out: Skipping the human pass is exactly what makes clients realize they could've done it themselves for free.

4 more steps in this playbook
The rest of the playbook: what to charge, what you need in place before you take money, where the first customers come from, and what each step costs.
The tools are commodity and cheap; your moat is entirely the curation judgment and reliability you bring, both easy to describe but genuinely hard for a client to replicate under time pressure.
01
Specialize in one content vertical (B2B SaaS founders, coaches) so your hooks are provably better than generic
02
Build a proprietary swipe file of what's worked for past clients
Exit options
A small book of retainer clients could be folded into a larger social media or podcast production agency as an add-on service line.
