Ways to make money in your spare time

Five hours a week is not a small version of a full-time thing. It is a different kind of thing, and the composition of this set shows it immediately: nearly half is property and investing. You are not working five hours a week here so much as owning something that pays while you are not looking at it.

That is why this is the only filter on the site whose median score sits below the site median, and why its earnings ceiling is the lowest of the six. Low hours and high ceiling are close to mutually exclusive unless capital is doing the work instead of you.

The set is built from the stated minimum hours on each playbook, not from a label. That distinction matters here more than anywhere: ten ideas carrying an "under 5 hours" tag in the underlying data state a minimum of eight to fifteen hours in their own playbooks, and one of them is pool cleaning at fifteen to thirty-five. They are not on this page. Thirty-seven ideas that genuinely run in five hours or fewer were not tagged at all, and they are.

Read the hours figure on each card as a floor rather than a promise. It is what the playbook says the work takes once it is running, and it excludes the setup — which, for several of these, is the part that actually takes a weekend.
